In 2016 experts of the Finnish organisation Test World have tested the Yokohama IG50 + at size 205/55 R16 and compared to 10 similar studless budget, mid-range and premium winter tires. In addition, experts included into the test 10 studded and one “European type” tyre for comparison of results.
18-19th place in Wet braking (7-8th among studless tires). The braking distance was 10.4 meters longer, than the best similar tire.21th place in Wet handling (10th among similar). Yokohama was 2.9 seconds slower, than the best studless tire.8-9th place in Dry braking (6th among studless). Same result with the Michelin XIN3. Main conclusions:
Relatively poor wet performance.
Short dry braking distance.
