2013 Tekniikan Maailma Pirelli Winter IceControl test
In 2013 experts of the Finnish publication Tekniikan Maailma have tested the Pirelli Ice Control at size 205/55 R16 and compared to 12 studded and 7 studless budget, mid-range and premium winter tires.
15-16th place in Dry braking (6-7th among studless tires). The braking distance was 1.4 meters longer, than the best studless tire.3-12th place in Dry handling.3-10th place in Dry directional stability.14-16th place in Wet braking (6th among studless). Same result with studded Hankook W419 and Goodyear UG Ice Arctic. The braking distance was 1.5 meters longer, than the best similar tire.13-14th place in Wet handling (3-4th among studless tires). Pirelli was 0.7 seconds slower, than the best similar tire.7-12th place in Wet handling.9th place in Ice braking (and the best result among studless tires). The braking distance was 1.8 meters shorter, than the next similar tire.15th place in Ice handling (3rd among studless tires). Pirelli was 5,8 seconds slower, than the best similar tire.15-16th place in Ice traction (3-4th among studless tires). Acceleration time was 0.4 seconds longer, than the best similar tire.15th place in Snow braking (5th among studless). The braking distance was 1.1 meters longer, than the best similar tire.14th place in Snow handling (5th place among studless tires). Pirelli was 2 seconds slower, than the best similar tire.11-14th place in Snow traction (4-5th place among studless). Same result with studded Toyo G3-Ice and Gislaved Nord Frost 100. Acceleration time was 0.2 seconds longer, than the best similar tire.1-4th place in Noise level test.

According to the test results Pirelli shared 3rd place with Japanese Bridgestone.
Main conclusions:
Good dry braking, handling and directional stability.
Relatively short wet braking distance and good handling time.
The best ice braking distance among similar studless tires, good handling and traction.
Relatively long snow braking distance, but good traction and handling.
