Pirelli P Zero PZ4 Review
Pirelli P Zero PZ4 is one of the best-rated Ultra High Performance summer tires in its category. The model was released in 2018, is available in a huge size chart from 17 to 23” and is suitable for sports passenger cars and SUVs.
When developing the model, the company’s engineers used knowledge gained from competitive motorsport, combined with cooperation with leading automakers. The special design of the inner part of the tread and the high content of silica in the rubber compound provide high grip on wet asphalt. The outside part of tread pattern has low pitch sequence and siping design for low noise and reduced rolling resistance.
Dry performance
Pirelli has an average dry performance rating of 98.46%. This is a high score among all similar competitors, means that the tire provides confident grip on dry roads. Its rating in dry handling is 99.14%: in 2 tests out of 15 the tire had the best result, and in another 7 cases it was over 99%, very close to the maximum possible. Pirelli’s braking rating is 97.78%.
Wet performance
The tire also shows good performance on wet roads: its average rating is 97.05%. It has some of the best results in handling and lateral stability – 99.06% and 98.66%, respectively. In 5 out of 14 tests it showed the best handling, while in other cases its results ranged from 96 to 99%. High and stable results. On wet asphalt, its result is slightly worse – 93.42%. In tests Pirelli several times showed the shortest braking distance but in many cases its result was below 90%.
Aquaplaning resistance
Pirelli PZ4 has an average aquaplaning score of 93.8%. The tire has a rating of 95% in straight line stability and has demonstrated close to the best results in tests several times. Whereas in lateral aquaplaning its result is also not bad, but slightly lower – 92.05%.
Rolling resistance
Pirelli’s rating in rolling resistance is 85.01%: most tires in this category have a similar rating. In 2 tests out of 14 she had the best result, while in the remaining cases it varied from 71% to 95%.
Noise
The tire has a 98.2% rating in noise. Good result means that Pirelli provides quiet driving.
Wear resistance
The tire has a durability rating of 51.9% based on only one test.
Comfort
Pirelli’s comfort level is 85.71% based subjectively on a single test.
Overall
In everything related to driving safety, Pirelli demonstrates excellent performance. Among its greatest strengths are exemplary results on dry asphalt, excellent handling and lateral stability on wet roads; good aquaplaning resistance and low noise level.
