In 2018 experts of the Russian magazine Za Rulem have tested the Nitto Therma Spike 3 at size 195/65 R15 and compared it with eleven similar budget, mid-range and premium studded winter tyres.

According to the test results Nitto took 10th place.
Main conclusions:
- The longest wet braking distance.
- Relatively long dry braking, but close result to the leader.
- Relatively low ice performance: Nitto lost to most premium brands, but was better than tires of the same price category.
- Relatively low snow braking and traction.
- Good rolling resistance.
