In 2015 experts of the German magazine Auto Zeitung have tested the Michelin A4 at size 185/65 R15 and compared it with thirteen similar budget, medium and premium tyres.
6th place in Wet braking. The braking distance was 5 meters longer, than the leader.7th place in Wet handling. Michelin was 1.8 seconds longer, than the leader.6th place in Wet lateral stability.9th place in Straight aqua. The float speed was 7.7 km/h lower, than the leader.5th place in Dry braking. The braking distance was 1.1 meters longer, than the leader.4-6th place in Dry handling. Similar result with Toyo S943 and Continental TS 850. Michelin was 1.1 seconds slower, than the leader.1st place and the best result in Dry slalom. Michelin was 0.6km/h faster, than the next tyre.6-7th place in Snow braking. According to the test results Michelin A4 took 5th place.
Main conclusions:
Relatively long wet braking distance, average handling and lateral stability.
Average aquaplanning resistance.
Good dry performance.
Good snow braking and handling, but relatively low traction.
