In 2015 experts of the German magazine Auto Zeitung have tested the Maxxis WP05 at size 185/65 R15 and compared it with thirteen similar budget, medium and premium tyres.
13th place in Wet braking. The braking distance was 14 meters longer, than the leader.12-14th place in Wet handling. Maxxis was 2.5 seconds slower, than the leader.10th place in Wet lateral stability. The tyre was 1 seconds slower, than the leader.5th place in Straight aqua. The float speed was 6.8km/h lower, than the leader.8-9th place in Dry braking. Same result with Barum Polaris 3. The braking distance was 2.3 meters longer, than the leader.9th place in Dry handling. Maxxis was 2km/h slower, than the leader.7th place in Dry slalom. The tyre was 1.7km/h slower, than the leader.12th place in Snow braking. The braking distance was 1.1 meters longer, than the leader.4-5th place in Snow handling. Maxxis was 0.5 seconds slower, than the leader.8th place in Snow traction.10th place in Rolling resistance.2-6th place in Noise level.

According to the test results Maxxis took 12th place.
Main conclusions:
Poor on the wet: very long braking distance and one of the lowest handling.
