In 2015 experts of the German publication Auto Bild have tested the Apollo Alnac Winter winter at size 185/60 R15 and compared it with seventeen similar budget, mid-range and premium winter tires. In addition, experts included into the test one reference summer tyre for comparison of results.
7th place in Wet braking. The braking distancw was 3.4 meters longer, than the leader.10th place in Wet handling. Apollo was 3.3km/h slower, than the leader.11-14th place in Wet handling. Same result with Barum Polaris 3, Viking SnowTech 2 and Fulda Kristall Montero 3. Apollo was 0.7 seconds slower, than the best winter tire.Last place and the worst result in straight aqua. The float speed was 1.4km/h lower, than the leader.Last place and the lowest result in lateral aqua. Lateral acceleration was 1.64 m/s2 lower, than the leader.2nd place in Dry braking among winter tires. The braking distance was 0.3 meters longer, than the leader.3rd place in Dry handling. According to the test results Apollo took 11th place and got an expert score “recommended”.
Main conclusions:
Relatively good wet performance.
The lowest straight and lateral aquaplanning resistance.
Great on the dry: very short braking distance and high handling speed.
Long snow braking distance (but close result to the leader); one of the best lateral stability, good traction and handling.
